Freetown — The Sierra Leone Amputee national team will face it Liberian counterpart on Sunday in the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition African amputee nation's cup, in Monrovia, Liberia.

Having hosted and failed to win the competition last year, the Sierra Leone national team are desperate to bring home the trophy.

Public Relations Officer, Albert Mustapha said they will depart Freetown tomorrow to compete in the tournament and return home with the trophy.

"We have all the players and technique to win all our matches; I have no doubt. I believe with the performance of the boys, they can do it," Mustapha said.

He said the team is in high spirit and everyone is match fit and ready for the challenge.

Commenting on his Liberian opponent, Mustapha said, "Liberia are having a very strong team which are making massive improvement, but that will not stop us from defeating them, although we expected strong resistance from them." Looking at the head to head record amongst the two sides, the Sierra Leone team has better record than their opponent.

Sierra Leone has won two of their matches against the Liberians, 1-0 in a friendly tie and 3-2 in last years competition.

However, Liberia were runners up in the last competition as they lost 4-3 to Ghana the defending champions.
