Eritrea: Beyond the Prevailing Peace and Security, is Endowed With Rich Tourism Potentials - Participants of Regional Conference

Participants of the regional conference on the role of trade unions in regional integration in Africa said that Eritrea, beyond the prevailing peace and security, is endowed with rich tourism potentials.

They made the remarks during a tour they conducted in areas on the Asmara- Semenawi Bahri route, Massawa and the Dase Islands.

The participants expressed admiration to the development activities being undertaken and stated that it is an outcome of an efficient management and harmony between the people and Government. As such, it is exemplary to other African countries, they added.

One of the participants, Mr. Francis Atoli from Kenya, said that he was impressed by the winding road running from Semenawi Bahri to Gahtelai that was constructed on the basis of domestic resource. Noting the noble value of the Eritrean people, Mr. Francis stated that he had never witnessed elsewhere the security that prevails in Eritrea. Ms. Tim Atoki from Uganda, also made similar remarks.

Still another conference participant, Mr. Makame Luni from Zanzibar, stated that contrary to distorted views as regards Eritrea on the parts of some individuals, the reality in the ground is quite different. He went on to say that Eritrea is an island of peace and called on others to personally witness such a reality.

Furthermore, Kenyan national Raji Mendi voiced admiration for the spectacular road along the Semenawi Bahri route. He also expressed admiration to the high skill of the Eritrean engineers who took part in the construction of the road.

Still another conference participant, Mr. Dir Boni Afrikin from Rwanda, said that he had experienced different weathers changes during the journey from Asmara to Massawa and stated that Eritrea has rich tourism potentials that need to be effectively harnessed.

Likewise, Eng. Ibrahim Ali Mustafa from Sudan who visited Eritrea for the second time stated that Eritrea is a land of peace where the Peace Agreement between the Sudanese Government of National Unity and the East Sudan Front was signed.

Meanwhile, the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, hosted a dinner reception in Massawa for the visiting conference participants, during which he presented gifts to their representatives.
