Angola: Prison Hospital Assists Over 100 Injured Persons

Luanda-based hospital unit of "São Paulo" Prison is assisting 106 people sustaining several injuries, victims of the collapsed building of the National Criminal Investigation Department (DNIC), ANGOP has learnt.

According to the national director of the Health Department of Prison Services, Manuel Freire, most of the examined patients sustained injuries in the head, upper and low limbs.

The majority received medical assistance at the Prison Hospital of Sao Paulo, whereas seven others, who were seriously wounded, were transferred to Luanda's Central Hospital and to Prenda Hospital, for orthopaedic surgery.

Manuel Freire also quoted that 16 wounded patients were discharged Saturday afternoon from the hospital.

The number of people who were rescued on Sunday morning from the debris of the building stood at 152.

So far four people were found dead, and debris removal operations proceed.
