Says Joshua Sackie, But
Mr. Joshua Sackie, who according to reports resigned as the National Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) says he is still the constitutional and legitimate head of the party until a national convention is held.
Recently, the CDC in a release said Mr. Sackie has resigned and that Mrs. Geraldine Doe Sheriff was named Acting National Chairman of the CDC.
According to a press statement issued in Monrovia on Saturday, Mr. Sackie said the National Executive Committee of the CDC had a meeting at which time a group consisting of Jake Kabakollie, Acarous M. Gray, Eugene Nagbe and Geraldine Doe Sheriff asked him to resign the post.
He accused these individuals of being in the constant habit of undermining the collaborative efforts of CDC and wishing it malevolence. Mr. Sackie said he told them that he cannot resign until a national convention is held when the will of all CDC partisans shall prevail. The CDC Acting Chairman said the meeting ended peacefully and quietly.
He said surprisingly, he has been hearing, reading in the media and receiving calls from many concerned CDC partisans informing him that they have been reading and hearing that he submitted a letter of resignation.
Mr. Sackie said the letter of resignation is an absolute falsehood, a malicious lie and a complete misrepresentation of what actually happened and discussed at the meeting.
" I still remain the constitutional and legitimate Acting National Chairman of the CDC until a national convention is held," Mr.Sackie stated.
He said he took time to respond to such destructive falsehood because he had being brooding over facts-gathering and consultation as well as his deep love and respect for the party.
However, the Assistant Secretary General of the CDC, Mr. Acarious Gray, in an interview with the INQUIRER produced a letter he claimed as the resignation letter of Mr. Sackie.
He said that at a National Executive Meeting of the party, Mr. Sackie produced the letter to the surprise of all present.
Mr. Gray said the leadership of the CDC was shocked and dismayed over recent statement from Mr. Sackie, saying, "But we will not consider any act of lawlessness from former Chairman Sackie, because he voluntarily resigned by way of a letter signed by him."
The CDC Assistant Secretary General said Mr. Sackie must immediately desist from being use as a stooge by detractors of the CDC.
