The second term holiday is usually a no-rest period for some students; those in examination classes in particular.

When extra classes are not organised by schools, their parents step in and hire private teachers. Such instructors have as duty to help the students in understanding their lectures better in a bid to prepare them for the end of year examinations.

However, more and more, some private teachers are abusing their functions. If this were not the case, how would a teacher unilaterally decide to introduce an extra lesson; a "practical course" on human biology to his 16-year-old student? It happened the other day in Yaounde. Prof, as he was fondly called in the family, was caught doing "mami-papa" business with his teenage student? The most infuriating aspect of the whole show is the answer he gave the parents of the young learner. Said he shamelessly: "children understand sciences better if they feel and touch what they are thought. I was just helping your daughter to understand better..." What a hoax!

Such misdemeanour should serve as an eye opener to parents. Watch out under whose care you place your children. There are a lot of wolves in sheep's clothing around.
