The number of people who perished as a result of the collapse, Saturday at dawn, of the National Criminal Investigation Department (DNIC) building, increased to 21, confirmed this Monday here the co-ordinator of the Civil Protection Service, Eugénio Laborinho.

Speaking to ANGOP, Eugénio Laborinho added that amongst the 21 dead victims, 10 are males and 11 females, including a baby less than one month old.

"From midnight, local time, until the moment only six ladies were rescued, increasing the number of deaths to 21", emphasized the official.

On the other hand, Eugénio Laborinho confirmed the rescuing of 147 people alive and at the moment 102 citizens have been detained at São Paulo prison, which has a hospital that is currently granting medical assistance to 11 victims of the disaster.
