South African artistes have lately been invading the Ozone Night Club in Tlokweng. About a month ago, the club hosted popular Afro pop group Mafikizolo in a well-attended show.

Mafikizolo staged quite an exciting show despite the fact that they went on stage late. During the long weekend, Mafikizolo lead singer, Nhlanhla was back at the club but this time as a solo artiste. She staged a memorable show.

The club also hosted prominent DJs from South Africa including DJ Sbu during the Easter holidays. On Friday, it was happening again as another South African Afro pop artist, Ntando performed at the club. Just before Nhanhla went on stage, local artiste, Kgotla who was backed by the dancing sensation Skavenja, rocked the audience.

But when Ntando appeared the ladies started screaming. It appeared that the young ladies regard him as a sex symbol.

The South African artiste started belting out Xhosa ballads, which were popular with the crowd. Although people did not know what he was singing about, they still loved his songs, proving that music is a universal language. As the show went on, his fans screamed for more. But the only shortcoming was that Ntando was not performing his lovely music with a live band. It could have been more exciting if he had added a band to his background.

Just when people were enjoying the show, Ntando jumped off the stage after somebody tossed a missile at him. The woman, who fired a beer bottle at the artiste, was later identified. However, nobody was injured on the stage. But Ntando never came back to the stage. But this did not spoil the show as people who were attending the festival had enjoyed themselves.

But it is regrettable that music followers should behave in this manner. Fortunately by the time Ntando ran for his safety, he was almost at the end of the show.

But for Steve Raman of Ozone this was yet another successful show. "It was a good show, we have delivered. The performance was 100 percent," he said, adding that they are intending to stage more live shows.

He said the attendance was also impressive. But Raman said he was disappointed that some revellers behaved in a disorderly fashion. However, he said their security is always on high alert.

Raman said the lady who threw a missile at the artiste was thrown out the club. Since its inception last year, Ozone is developing into a popular entertainment venue especially for the youth.
