Former military actor in the Liberian civil crisis, Joe Wylie, said he has asked the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) for him to appear before it.

Mr. Wylie said at such a hearing he would narrate all that he knows about the conflict that lasted for over fifteen years.

Mr. Wylie said he wants to give an account of his activities during the Liberian Civil war.

Mr. Wylie who had been accused of participating with several warring factions during the Liberian Civil Crisis said, "It is good that everybody hear about the conflict, especially the youths."

Mr. Wylie, a former Deputy Defense Minister in the National Transitional Government of Liberia (NTGL), has disclosed that will shortly release a book entitled, "My Struggle for Rice and Rights."

Mr. Wylie said the book is an autobiography depicting his thirty-three years of political participation in the struggle for social justice and political freedom in Liberia.

The book which deals with his perception of external and internal factors in Liberia's conflict also deals with the regional conflict in the Mano River basin.

Mr. Wylie who said he has a vast and rich political experience wants to tell his story, especially to the youths so that the tragedy will not be repeated.

He narrated how the rice riot of 1979 is what perpetuated the thirteen years of civil conflict in the country.

Mr. Wylie who is now a consultant for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Conflict Prevention also praised the Unity Party (UP) led government by working to upgrade the agricultural sector in the country.

He stated further that although the government can not rebuild the country in its first six years, he stressed that if the government continues on this trend; noticeable differences would be seen and appreciated to move the country forward.
