Liberia: Network of Investigative Journalists Launched

A Network of Investigative Journalists of Liberia (NIJOL) has been launched in Monrovia.

Launching the Network at the Liberia Media Center, Catholic Justice and Peace Commission Executive Director, Cllr. Augustine Toe challenged members of the network to muster courage and objectively pursue issues of national interest.

He hoped that the formation of NIJOL will add new flavor to journalism in Liberia and urged the network to follow issues to logical conclusion.

Earlier the Executive Director of the Liberia Media Center, Lawrence Randall reaffirmed his organization's commitment to assist NIJOL achieve its objectives. He expressed the hope that NIJOL has come to stay and not go in oblivion.

In brief remarks, NIJOL coordinator Sorbor George, assured the public and would be partners that the network would operate void of bias and discrimination. He also promised that findings of investigation conducted will be credible.

Mr. Gou Haodomg, Political Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, scores of journalists and sympathizers of the media attended the launch.
