Liberia: Liberian Engineer Lauds Firestone Liberia

The Construction Manager of the B Zazay Construction Company, Mr. Cherry Burphy has lauded the decision of Firestone Liberia to hire Liberian-owned construction firms to participate in its reconstruction program.

The young Liberian construction engineer was speaking at the site of the construction on Friday, March 28, 2008, located at Division 26, where Firestone Liberia is continuing the construction of modern housing facilities for its dedicated employees and their dependents.

Mr. Burphy praised the Management of Firestone Liberia for the interest it has and continues to take in the abilities of Liberians to perform credibly and trustworthily. He further observed that such a confidence has enabled the local construction companies to provide some level of employment opportunities for young jobless Liberians.

He disclosed that his company played an active part in the implementation of projects at Divisions 27 and 40; stressing that "this new assignment is a welcomed development and will boost our moral as a Liberian-owned construction company."

He used the occasion to admonish employees and their families to utilize these facilities properly when completed, because as he puts it, "lots of resources are being put into these buildings and the effort must be appreciated."

Also in attendance was the Public Affairs Manager of Firestone Liberia, Mr. G. Rufus Karmorh, who thanked the construction workers for the hard work and urged them to use their expertise to ensure that the project is completed on time as required by Management.

Mr. Karmorh also seized the opportunity to inform Mr. Burphy and his co-workers about the importance Management attaches to its housing program for its dedicated employees and their dependents; and expressed the hope that they (the workers) will muster the courage and energy to discharge their duty diligently.

In another development, the Management of Firestone Liberia has announced the promotion of Mrs. Monah P. Harris, as an Administrative Assistant, in the Community Affairs Department of the company. A communication issued by the Personnel Operations Department is quoted as saying that the promotion of Mrs. Harris takes immediate effect as of Thursday, March 27, 2008.

Mrs. Harris, a career office administrator has held several reputable positions of trust with the Government of the Republic of Liberia, the erstwhile Bong Mining Company and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She is a graduate of the Detroit College of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in office administration.
