The Liberian Produce Marketing Corporation(LPMC) and the Cleric Trading Corporation(CTC) yesterday held a one day workshop for coordinators and agents following a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two entities recently on palm kennel purchasing.
In his welcome statement, LPMC managing Director Nyah Mantein said the resurrection of palm kennel trade is not only traditionally acceptable in the Liberian economy but would help reduce poverty and create a sense of reliance and self sustainability of the farmers, a release said.
He said the LPMC would not relent in endorsing and engaging in those things that would bring economic relief and create more jobs for the people.
For her part, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of CTC Mrs. Clavenda Parker expressed the hope that the palm kennel program will rekindle the value of Liberia's Agriculture produce that are being forgotten over the years and pledged her entity's consideration in bringing mill for the production of palm kennel oil in the near future.
She stressed that Poverty Reduction Strategy(PRS) launched by government is being chiefly tied to the concept of palm kennel purchase in Liberia under the LPMC/CTC arrangement.
Deputy Commerce Minister for Administration Andy Allakamenin who graced the occasion as facilitator cherished the LPMC/CTC initiative which he said would significantly add to the healing mechanism being put in place by government with respect to the Poverty Reduction Strategy(PRS).
Issues considered at the workshop included proposed structure of the program, pricing policies, quality specification as well as financial and economic benefits to be achieved from the program.

Coordinators from Nimba, Lofa, Montserrado, Bong and Rivercess counties attended the workshop, the release concluded.
