The closing ceremony of Sawa's Warsay-Yikaalo School for the academic year of 2007-2008, in which members of the 21st round National Service Program participated, was conducted from March 29 to 30.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of the School, Mr. Kiflai Andemichael, indicated that major achievements have been registered as a result of the introduction of different teaching methods.

Mr. Kiflai went on to say that the school is providing equal educational opportunities to students from all parts of the country and that it is striving to enhance the patriotism and sense of national unity among students, nurture their physical fitness and discipline, as well as raise their political awareness.

The Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom and Brig. General Abraha Kasa awarded prizes to the students who demonstrated excellence in the academic and sports fields and to the meritorious teachers.

Art exhibitions, sports competitions and cultural shows were staged to highlight the event. The Warsay-Yikaalo School in Sawa, which began offering instruction in the year 2003, has so far graduated 54,000 students who took part in the national school leaving exams.
