The electoral registration updating phase started this Tuesday, countrywide, with the Inter-ministerial Commission for the Electoral Process (CIPE) expecting the registration of nearly 350,000 citizens until late May.

According to a press note sent to ANGOP this Tuesday, this phase will register citizens who will complete 18 years until the holding of the legislative elections, scheduled for September 06-07, as well as those who by any chance did not register during the normal period.

The targeted citizens will obtain their voters' cards at district administrations and those residing 40 kilometres away from these departments will be registered by mobile brigades.

Therefore, CIPE reiterates the appeal to political parties, NGOs, churches, civic associations and chieftains to be engaged in activities of sensitising the population to participate actively in this process.

The normal period of electoral registration process occurred from 15 November 2006 to 15 September 2007, and registered over 8 million possible voters.
