Francistown — Zebras coach, Colywn Rowe, and his goalie are delighted with the appointment of Zebras legend, Thabo "Mahala" Motang, as goalkeeper coach.

Motang took over the job from Tirafalo Mogorosi who has been redeployed to the Under 23s.

Motang, 40, who played for First Division North side Mahalapye Hotspurs, made his name with Rollers and the national team at his prime and is regarded as one of the best the country has produced.

Speaking to Voice Sport Rowe said: "I have not worked with him but I like what I have seen so far. The players like and respect him. His background will also help because he knows what is expected at national team level. Without taking anything from the previous keeper coaches I think his presence is good for the team."

For his part, captain Modiri Marumo who is also the Zebras number one goalie who is back home from Egypt, where he plays his club football, told Voice Sport: "It's good to work with one of my inspirations. He seems to be a good coach and I hope he will deliver better because he has been there. I have only had one session with him and I enjoyed it. I think he needs to be developed because that's the only way he can improve as a coach and this will help the team."

Raphael Nthwane, who plies his trade at Flamengo Santos, is also delighted at Motang's appointment and says he has learnt a lot from Motang: "He is a good coach and I have picked up useful lessons from him. He has shown me a lot on the physical and psychological demands of the game at national team level. His presence will do us good."
