Katsina State Government is considering sending some selected students, versed in the Arabic Language to Sudan, to pursue courses in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Medicine and other science related courses.

Governor Ibrahim Shema, made this known when the national executives of an Islamic group, the Jama'atu Izalatul Bidi'a Wa'ikamatu Sunnah from Jos, the Plateau state capital; led by its chairman, Sheikh Mohammad Jingir, paid him a visit at the government house.

He said a state government committee was recently in Sudan to secure placements for the students. According to him, Arabic language remains a key in the furtherance of education. As such, government will continue to use the (Tsangaya) Islamic schools to select intelligent pupils that would be sponsored to read courses in countries that use Arabic as their language of instruction.

Shema said the government was committed to promoting Islam through assisting relevant organisations. At the same time, he said his administration had scrapped all forms of fees, including examination fees in schools to promote western education in the state.
