The ongoing cycling tour of Cameroon has been a succession of set backs, most of which can be blamed on poor organisation. It all began with the postponement of the start of the event by 24 hours due to delays in transporting members of the foreign delegation from Yaounde and Douala to Maroua.

Then came complains about poor feeding and lodging. To this has been added the late arrival of the bicycles of the riders from the Adamawa to the West Province and the reduction, by half, of the distance that had to be covered in stage 4. What a mess!

The irony is that while things are going bananas, some of the organisers are busy having fun. Real fun! For how can we explain the fact that most of them are in the tour with their "bed side dictionaries"? Mistresses being infiltrated into the official delegation as hostesses!

Imagine what all those foreign athletes are thinking? With such mediocrity and amateurism in organisation, can our dream of hosting the best tour in Africa ever come true? Let's be serious. It is the image of the country that is at stake.
