Political and religious entities of Ingombota municipality, Luanda province, considered Wednesday, that the peace achieved by Angolans on 4th April 2002 gave a new meaning to the national independence, proclaimed on 11th November, 1975.

The municipality administrator, Suzana Augusto de Melo "Zany", said that the population have already seen the importance of the peace with the free circulation of people and goods, advantages that in war time were less visible, mainly in rural areas.

The communal administrator of Maculusso, Tito Ngunza, also shares the same opinion that peace has brought a new taste of independence to the Angolans.

Pastor Alberto Teixeira of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, stated that 4th of April 2002 is considered to be for all Angolans as the beginning of the country's development and the reconciliation among Angolans. He added on saying that this moment marked a change in the recent history of the country, mainly in the disturbed political and military scenarios that the nation faced during 27 years.

Political, religious, social and cultural activities are taking place throughout the country in order to celebrate the date.

In this process, the eastern Moxico province, had played a prominent role because, this region hosted the first contact between the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and former Unita Military Force in March 2002 that ended up in the signing of the memorandum of understanding complementary to the Lusaka protocol.
