Angola: Micro-Credit Programme Launched in Luanda

The provincial Government of Luanda and Sol Bank launched Wednesday here a joint micro-loan programme, aimed at encouraging women to set up their own business.

Launched in Rangel district by the acting Luanda governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, the programme will also be extended to other Luanda-based districts and will help women setting up their own business, in a organised and legal way, with a view to stop conducting selling activities on the streets.

During the launching ceremony, six groups, made up of five women, have benefited from micro-credit, worth AKz 200,000 each, in order to start their business.

According to Sol Bank's administrator, Sérgio Lavrador, the above granted micro-credit will benefit the neediest population, and he added that both the Bank and the Government of Luanda, want people to improve their living standards.
