Comorian referees will take charge of the second round return leg tie of the Confederations Cup between Young Africana and visiting Libyan side Al Akhdar, at the national Stadium on Saturday.
Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela said yesterday that the referees are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam today.
He named the referees as Said Baca, Yusuph Abdillahi and Mlamali Fazal while the match commissioner is Mtonga Maxwell from Malawi. Preparations for the match are complete and Al Akhdar is expected to arrive tomorrow, he said.
"Tight security will be deployed during the match," he said, warning unruly fans to keep away from the venue if they think they can gain access into the stands without paying entrance fee," he said.
After securing a valuable 1-1 draw in the first leg match played in Tripoli nearly a fortnight ago, Yanga is favoured to advance into the next stage of the championship, with a barren draw or a win.
Yanga secretary general Lucas Kisasa said his team will not entertain complacency and will be all out for a win on Saturday.
Yanga intends to to invite former players to seek advice and expertise on how best to cross the hurdle, he stated.
A contingent of 19 Al Akhdar players and seven officials are expected to arrive tomorrow afternoon aboard a Qatar Airways flight.
Kisasa named the players as Abdallah Mohammed, Usama Mussa, Ahmed Mohamed, Khalifa Almir, Ahmed Aljaber, Anis Afdheil, Hussein Khainillah, Ahmed Afkirin, Hislam Hamad and Abdelbasel Saweihir. Others are Embarak Ali, Aboubaset Mohamed, Hotso Joseph, Eabdro Fodey, Henri Camara, Juma Mussa, Abdulhafidl Mussa and Hamza Latif. Officials are head coach Fan Tilma, Mohammed Abdulmaula (assistant coach) and administrators Saleh Salem, Khalid Abusalum, Ahmed Majid (physician), Nasser Abduljali (kit manager) and Khalifa Saulid. The team is also expected to come with an undisclosed number of supporters. Ends
Miembeni leads Zantel league By Hassan Abdullah, Zanzibar Isles champions Miembeni FC has opened a two points gap in the Zantel premiership league after defeating Duma-JKU 2-0 goals in a match played at Gombani Stadium late last week.
The holders have so far bagged 14 points and replaced Duma JKU team as leaders, despite dominating the show from the kick off last month. Miembeni have substantially improved their performance, linked with the arrival of Charles Boniface Mkwasa as new coach a fortnight ago.
The visitors, Miembeni opened the score after 13 minutes through striker Mohamed Golo who slotted home a rebound following a goal mouth melee, which Duma defenders failed to clear.
Miembeni concluded their scoring assignment in the 37th minute through a spot kick that was expertly taken by Said Kuzu.
Despite posting a comfortable victory, Miembeni had their striker Mussa Kidishi sent off for a blatant foul on a Duma defender.
Duma coach Ahmed Shubeir complained on poor officiating which he said showed bias in favour of the title holders.
Shubeir declared that from the start of the league Miembeni has been highly favoured by referees with an objective of "assisting" the holders to retain their title.

"There is basically no need to run a soccer league if the champions can be predetermined - going by the standard of officiating," the coach intoned. In another match played at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar town JKU trounced Mwenge FC by 2-0. JKU have the same number of points (12) with Duma JKU but with a better goal difference.
JKU took the lead in the 18th minute through an own goal from Mwenge defender Mohammed Ame.
The team sealed off victory with nine minutes to go through Hamad Othman, put through by Ali Vibu. Relegation haunted Malindi FC is at the bottom of the standings having garnered a paltry three points.
