The minister of Angolan Social Welfare minister, João Baptista Kussumua Tuesday affirmed, in Sumbe city, that his sector intends to focus it activity on boosting community projects of social integration of disadvantaged people, with view to create job opportunities.

Addressing the opening of the 17th Broad Consultative Council of his Ministry, in coastal Kwanza Sul province, which aims at outlining strategies for the current year, the official also quoted as task to be carried out this year the speeding up of the implementation of projects for the reintegration of ex-soldiers from several peace processes.

The ongoing implementation of assistance, physical rehabilitation, professional and educational activities, as well as the creation of jobs and incomes for disabled people, reviving and boosting Community Education Programme (PEC) simultaneously with the Infant Community Programme (PIC), is part of the sector's activities.

By balancing the activities, the official referred that in the framework of the general programme of demobilisation and reintegration of ex-soldiers, 158 projects were implemented in 2007, having benefited 100,347 people, from which 65,771 are ex-soldiers, 20,212 minors, 7,655 women, 5,322 disabled ex-soldiers and 2,380 others.
