Operations of rescuing, saving and searching for victims of the collapsed National Criminal Investigation Department (DNIC) building were concluded last Wednesday, announced here the national co-ordinator of the Civil Protection Services (SPC), Eugenio Laborinho.

Addressing the press at the end of a meeting of the commission set up to follow the incident, Eugenio Laboringo said that the operation was considered finished by the Home Affairs minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", in his capacity of co-ordinator of the rescue team.

Meanwhile, Eugenio Laborinho said that a reduced number of police officers will remain in the surroundings of DNIC in order to control and maintain public order, adding that staff of the collapsed institution will also remain in order to collect some documents that are still within the debris.

That entity also said that the companies that have been working in the removal of debris of the ex-building will be reduced to two in the next 24 hours.
