Fon Angwafor III of Mankon has denied allegations that the recent nationwide strike paid off because government budged and increased salaries as well as cut down taxes.

To Fon Angwafor, President Paul Biya has a calendar of what is good for all Cameroonians and "no fool should boast that he is the one who provoked the President to react."

In his capacity as the first National Vice Chairman of the CPDM, Angwafor was responding recently to a catalogue of essential needs presented by Mezam I WCPDM President, Miriam Chi Mbah.

The Fon wondered whether the roads, schools, health centres being requested for would not be set ablaze by the very youths."Some of those who were destroying are children around here, did you people care as much to discuss this incident in your CPDM meetings at section, subsection and branch levels.

You are asking for roads to be repaired by the Head of State and at the same time destroying the very things you request. Have you people told your children the truth, people they are revolting against you people? Angwafor quipped.

Rain Disrupts March

As if the gods of rain were against the CPDM, they let down a cold shower on a solidarity march programmed across the Northwest Province on March 24 (CPDM 23rd anniversary).

In Bamenda, the march led by former Prime Minister, Achidi Achu, Paul Atanga and a host of Central Committee members walked into a storm shortly after midday as they left the Bamenda Congress Hall on their way to City Chemist Roundabout.

The rains spared the CPCM militants up to BICEC but as it began pouring, Achidi Achu and Nji Atanga found shelter in a car while the rest of the militants ran back to the Congress Hall.

One of the militants grumbled, saying the rain was a bad omen this year.

"How can rain beat us during a demonstration along Commercial Avenue and again we are moving to Ayaba Hotel for entertainment under the rain again?" said the soaked militant.
