Twenty two persons were killed last Tuesday in a tragic motor accident along the Gbarnga-Zorzor highway.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a truck, with 24 persons on board, traveling from Gbarnga to Lofa County lost control, hit an embankment and somersaulted several times before it came to a halt.

An NGO worker based in Voinjama, Lofa County, told this paper that the truck was overloaded with passengers, zinc, cement and other personal effects when the driver lost control while ascending a hill.

According him, following rescue operation by UNMIL peacekeepers assigned in the area, there were two survivals including the driver.
