One Bakary Keita, age 21 on Monday appeared before the Bundung Magistrate's Court presided over by Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara charge with rape.
According to the statement of the offence narrated in court by police prosecutor 438 Njie, Mr Keita on March 6 ,2008 at Nema Kunku Village, Kombo North in the Western Region, did have a carnal knowledge with a six year girl (name withheld) without her consent.
Mr Keita pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. He further informed the court that he wanted to engage the service of a lawyer.
Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara then adjourned the case to Monday April 7 2008 to allow Mr Keita to engage the service of a lawyer.The accused was then send to remand in Mile Two Central Prison until April 7.
