The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Thursday here considered that the visit of the highest leader of Vietnam, Nong Duc Manh, to Angola as an expression of excellent relations of friendship and solidarity between both countries.

According to the Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who was speaking at the opening of the official talks between the two countries' delegations, these friendship and solidarity ties, exist since the time that both people struggled against a common conflict for the defence and consolidation of their respective independencies.

"In spite of the changes that can be noticed worldwide, it is still valid the history that units us and that might use today for the strengthening of a multiform cooperation and mutually beneficial", the Angolan statesman said.

President Dos Santos added that the rapid growth of Angola and Vietnam's economy, after long wars that ravaged both countries, allows facing with redouble optimism and in favourable conditions the future of the relations between the two nations.

Mr. Dos Santos stressed that Angola analyses with much interest the progress in the sectors of economy, social, technical and scientific that occurs in Vietnam since its reunification, which makes this country an example in how concrete policies, associated with a wish and abnegation of a people, can be translated into development and wellbeing for everyone. "If in the past, Vietnam was seen worldwide as a model of resistance and of capacity of sacrifice in defence of its ideals and sovereignty, it is also today an example of capacity of recovering and reconstruction of a destroyed country, occupying a fair place of honour and dignity in the concert of the nations at world level", said Eduardo dos Santos.

Preceding the talks between both countries, in the light of the state visit that started Wednesday in Angola, both presidents had held a private meeting.
