After five days of competition, they grabbed 30 medals, followed by the North West with 12 medals.

Curtains have dropped at the 10th edition of National Finals of School Games (FENASCO A), in Bafoussam with the Centre Province emerging first on the medals table. Just like during the 9th edition in Ngaoundere, the female and male athletes from the nations capital excelled in nearly all the disciplines scoring 30 medals. The North West Province came second with 12 medals. The Littoral Province came third with 11 medals. The Adamawa is classified fourth with 21 medals. The West Province which many thought could use home advantage to grab many medals as possible got up from slumber on the last but one day to win only 27 medals in the competition. The sixth position is occupied by the Far North province with 12 medals. The East Province is seventh with 9 medals. South Province is the eighth with 5 medals, the North province ninth with ten medals and the South West Province last on the chart with 6 medals.

During the football finals that marked the end of activities at the Lycee Classique sports complex, Lycee Bayangang from Adamawa defeated Lycee of Akwa North 7-6 on penalty shoot out after both teams played a two all tie at the end of regular time.

With regards to trophies, the centre province bagged home the best performance trophy of the competition, the South West, Fair play trophy and the youngest trophy went to Abe Abe, a form one student from Lycee Bertoua.

Speaking at the closing ceremony yesterday, the Minister of Secondary Education Louis Bapes Bapes hailed the smooth running of the competition and announced that the 11th edition of the games will take place in the South West Province. The Minister thanked the elites, population and the local organizing committee for living up to expectation. He assured each and everyone that, the fight against mercenaries and other forms of cheating will continue.

It should be noted that though no major record was set during the five days sports festival, officials and organizers left Bafoussam largely satisfied on a number of issues; the strict control against cheating and used of mercenaries through out the competition; the provision of instant medical treatment to injured athletes in all the stadia, the proper lodging and feeding of athletes in time, before and after the games and the hitch-free transportation of players and athletes from one play ground to the other. Meanwhile the above analyses are made based on number of gold won and not total number of medals.
