A meeting took place yesterday at the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
The Minister of Youth Affairs, Adoum Garoua has given major orientations as far as celebrating this year's 20th May is concerned. During a meeting yesterday at his ministry, Minister Adoum Garoua called on all participants involved in the civil march-past to ensure that this year's 20th May is one with a difference-difference in the sense that it comes just after the country witnessed social unrest. In this light, he told participants at the meeting that things have to be done in an orderly manner, with respect of patriotism and love for the country. He underscored that all those involved in the civilian march-past must be discipline and follow the instructions of the organisers of the event. Discussions also focused on how the fire-works display will take place on the 19th of May.
During the meeting, it was also underscored that the theme of this year's Unity Day celebration as given by the Head of State is a clarion call for all Cameroonians to rally and consolidate the development and peace in the country. Slogans and messages which will be brandished during the march-past will reveal just the theme and nothing else. Political parties have been forbidden to exhibit slogans except for those authorised by the organising committee as well as sing anti-patriotic songs during the march past. Youths below 18 years will not be authorised to march-past with political parties.
