Ghana: Miss Malaika Ghana 2008 The Search Begins

It is the time of the year, when the search for the most beautiful, most intelligent and most responsible girl begins in Ghana - The search for Miss Malaika Ghana 2008.

In Kumasi, on Sunday April 13th, and Accra on Saturday May 3rd, the search trains will make their first stops at finding that young, intelligent and most beautiful young lady, who would represent Ghana at the Miss Malaika International, come December this year.

On these days, scouts at the various venues will look out for intelligence, beauty personality, striking features, boldness, and the desire to take up the responsibilities, which come with the Malaika Crown.

Delegates of the pageant are also expected to be abreast with social issues, be fun-loving and adventurous.

Each year, courtesy Charterhouse, young women, between the ages of 18-25, are given the wonderful opportunity to become ambassadors of Ghana, while earning for themselves prestige and luxury, as presented in the juicy prize packages.

In November last year, 21-year old Laurie Naa Lamile Lawson was discovered, and crowned Miss Malaika Ghana 2008. And only four months into her reign, Laurie is reported to have made several donations to vulnerable children. The first was at the Christian Faith Foster Home (Frafraha), and the second at the Children's Ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Beginning mid April this year, Laurie is expected to begin her community to community services, aimed at eradicating malaria in Ghana, in collaboration with the National Malaria Control Board and the USAID.

Since its inception in 2002, the Miss Malaika Ghana pageant, which is the search for the "Most Beautiful Girl in Ghana", has become the most prestigious, and most useful beauty pageant in the country.

This has stemmed from the fact that, right from the beginning, Miss Malaika Ghana has been positioned as a Reality TV Show, which offers participatory excitement for the viewing public, by allowing them to get up close and be personal with the delegates.

In so doing, the public has been involved in selecting their favourite as the winner, which has always made the winner accepted by all.

The venues for this year's searches are Erata Hotel and Miklin Hotel, both in Kumasi, on the said dates.
