Aspiring filmmakers have another go at honing their skills by way of a film workshop that will tutor them in video camera aesthetics and directorial techniques. It will be held at Amakula in Mengo from today till April 11. The training will provide filmmakers the core principles of digital video aesthetics and essential directorial techniques in the treatment of scenes and sequences in the shooting stage. It will use a combination of master classes, examples, exercises, guides and tools that promise to provide creative and practical methods that can be used to translate scenes from the script into moving pictures. Ermias Woldemak, a filmmaker and trainer from Ethiopia will tutor the workshop.
Idols Africa premieres
Starting tomorrow, Ugandan DStv viewers will get to see if one of our own has the vocal ability and star quality to become Africa's answer to Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard or Jordin Sparks - three of American Idol's winners. A recording contract from Sony BMG and an $80,000 cash prize is at stake. The first episode starts at 6p.m. local time on M-Net (DStv101) and will focus on the first Idols audition in Nairobi. It will also show every Monday at 7.30p.m. with additional screenings of all the audition footage from the seven audition cities on DStv198 starting tomorrow at 7p.m. The show promises audiences the same humour and emotion that has made Idols a runaway hit around the globe. Idols will have Zimbabwe's Lebo Mzwimbi as its host and hit Zambian producer TK Siyandi, Kenyan radio star Angela Angwenyi and Botswana's hip-hop hero Scar as its judges. The Ugandan audition will air on Sunday April 13 at 6p.m.
