Cameroon: Soldiers Receive Epaulettes in Buea, Tiko

Six soldiers received epaulettes in Buea on Tuesday, April 1, following a Ministerial Decree No. 080473/DM/MINDEF/02411 of March 20, 2008, signed by the Secretary of State in charge of Defence, Remmy Ze Meka, upgrading the ranks of 15 soldiers and one marine officer.

According to the decree, 13 soldiers were upgraded to the rank of caporal chef. They include Jean Marie Ettogo, Roger Nana, Paul Mbim Alabe, Thierry Ngongang Nganso, Mbouri Ndji M, Pierre Jacque Nnemb, Ngoungoure Njindam, Jean Baptiste Youmsi, Pepertua Manyong A, Gilbert Ngam N, Djoda, Philippe Engaba N and Abdourahman Maigari.

Those upgraded to the rank of caporal solder were Barthelemy Koukou and Komando Kempest. The lone marine who was upgraded to Quartier Maitre de Première classe, was Paul Marie Nna Zo'o.

The epaulettes were placed by Colonel Amadou Sourec, of the Gendarmerie Legion, Police Commissioner Mrs. Ewu Ngeme and other top military officers.It should be noted that out of the 16 names that were called for the promotion, only six of them were present to receive their epaulettes.

The ceremony took place at the 21st Motorised Infantry Battalion in Buea.In Tiko, it was about 54 amphibian battalions that were upgraded to the rank of Adjudant chef, carporal and caporal chef.
