Next month Rwanda will host the 48th Lions Club International annual convention which will train club members on international relations.
During the convention members will elect their new cabinet.
The convention will run from May 8 to 11 and will attract over 700 members from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Also expected to attend is the First Vice President of Burundi, Yves Sayingufu, who is a member of the club.
The president of the Kigali Doyen Lions club, Jean Marie Vianney Mugema said at a press conference at Hotel Novotel on Wednesday that the convention is also aimed at monitoring and evaluating the club's achievements and challenges in the region.
"We shall also talk about the problems and discuss ways of solving our problems which hinder our activities in the region," Mugema said.
François Rutishisha, the president of the convention's organising committee, said that participants would visit different parts of the country including the Akagera National Park.
The Lions Club of Kigali was formed in 1960 with the main objective of encouraging services without seeking personal gain. Since its inception, the club has been assisting vulnerable groups such as those with physical disabilities including those of Gatagara, orphans. It has also endeavoured to provide basic education to street children.

The club is part of the Lions Clubs International, the world's largest volunteer service organisation, with clubs all over the globe and nearly 1.35 million members.
