Angola: Home Minister at CPLP Forum in Portugal

7 April 2008

Luanda — An Angolan Home Ministry delegation led by incumbent minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Nnongo", left Luanda on Sunday for Portugal, to attend the first forum of the sector at the level of the Portuguese Speaking Community (CPLP) on April 08-09, Angop learned.

Before leaving, the minister told Angop at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, that being this the initial stage for the establishment of the association, participants will analyse documents and decide on the goals and schedule for the meetings.

According to minister Ngongo, the ministerial forum will be preceded by an expert session on Monday to analyse and prepare the documents that will be presented during the debates by the Home ministers of Angola, Internal administration of Portugal, Justice of Brazil and internal order of the other member countries.

Alongside the meeting, he said, a session of the CPLP police chiefs will be held, at which Angola will be represented by the Police top officer, commissioner-general, Ambrosio de Lemos, who is already in Portugal since Saturday.

The police first meeting was held in Luanda and participants had decided that a concert and co-operation forum should be created at the level of the incumbent ministers, which might happen in the coming days.

Portugal has offered to host the forum this month in order to discuss the points associated with the functioning of the association.

At the forum, Angola will transmit its experience obtained from its involvement in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).

CPLP is made up by Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea Bissau, Brazil, Portugal and East Timor.
