Windhoek — The harbour town of Luederitz will this month position itself as a major tourist and investment destination to the outside world by presenting the first-ever Luederitz Crayfish Festival.
The festival, an initiative of the local business community, will run from April 25-26 at the Luederitz Waterfront Harbour Square, and is expected to be launched by the Namibian Head of State Hifikepunye Pohamba.
According to Fluksman Samuehl, spokesperson of the Luederitz Crayfish Festival organising committee, the event will portray fascinating and rich sea-going life, which is associated with the harbour town of Luederitz. At the same occasion, several businesses will showcase their products and services during the event, he said, adding that the primary objective of the Luederitz Festival is to position Luederitz as a major tourist and investment destination.
This event provides Luederitz with an opportunity to showcase its economic potential to the outside world. Samuehl explained that Luederitz offers so much in terms of its recorded history, tourist attractions and rich sea-going life, hence the hosting of this important event. The event reflects the local business community's commitment to the genuine development of a long-term strategy which is appealing and designed to lure more tourists to Luederitz.
"This event promises to be the most exciting one on the Namibian calendar, as it will be held on annual basis," he boasted.
