Botswana: Nico Seek to Sustain Revival

Gaborone — Resurgent Nico United take on Township Rollers in a Mascom Premier League match at the Selebi-Phikwe Stadium tomorrow seeking to continue their late revival.

Rollers humbled Nico 4-1 in the first round late last year and Majombolo would be out to settle scores. The Gaborone giants are having a bad season and need to beat Nico to move closer to the leading pack.

On the other hand, Nico had a slow start to the season but have picked form at a crucial period. On current form, Majombolo are favoured to walk away with the three points. Rollers have not beaten Nico at the Selebi- Phikwe Stadium in more than eight years. Their 4-1 demolition of Majombolo in the first round was their first victory in a long time. Nico come to the game with their tails up after a morale boosting 3-2 victory at home over Notwane last weekend. Majombolo led 2-0 at halftime but allowed Toronto to claw their way back into the game before a late Jotham Marufu strike saved them. Nico will once again look up to the irrepressible Master Masitara who notched his 10th goal of the season at the weekend. Gifted with a clever right foot, silky dribbling skills and pace, the Nico forward has been a menace to the opposition.

He forms a deadly combination with the equally talented former Zebras international, Thobo 'Fish' Kgoboge.

Kgoboge is blessed with a high work rate, lightning pace and a sharp eye for goal. Towering Marufu ably supports the duo. In midfield, Master Masiku has fitted well and combines superbly with steely Eric Molebatsi. Murambiwa Ndlovu is expected to be in goal for Nico, relegating former number one, Chrispen Nyamutambo to the bench. Rollers' are grappling with a misfiring strike force where former BDF XI hit man, Bernard Semakwezi has not delivered much. A lot was expected from the Zambian when he crossed from the army side. Rollers have a gem in Amos 'Shoes' Godirwang and an array of talent in Gabriel Bokhutlo and the evergreen, Joel '16' Mogorosi to trouble Nico.

Tomorrow's clash will see Nico coach, Madinda Ndlovu face his former employers Rollers who he left in acrimonious circumstances. It will be sweet revenge if he can lead Nico to victory. However, Nico assistant coach, Peter Muchina said they are treating the game like any other.
