Nigeria's U-20 female national team commenced their Female U-20 World Cup on a shaky note yesterday when they struggled to beat their hard fighting foes from Cameroon in an encounter decided at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of the Nigerian girls. The goal was scored by Ogonna Chukwudi in the 44 minute of the first half.
It was a match meant to decide who among the countries would pick the ticket to play in the female U- 20 World Cup holding later this year in Chile.
The Nigerian girls came out smoking in the early minutes of the second half but the Cameroonian defence stood firm. In the 58th minute, Ugochi Oparanozie replaced right winger, Sherifat Saheed to sharpen the Nigerian attack.

The second goal scored by Nigeria's Rebecca Kalu in the 55th was ruled offside by the Ghanaian referee. And several attempts by the Nigerian team tutored by Dan Evumena to add to the tally proved abortive giving the Cameroonians hope for the return leg.
