Kuito — At least 11 firearms and three shells have been seized by the National Police over the weekend in Kuito, central Bie province, under the programme of disarming of civilians in illegal possession of weapons, Angop learned.
According to the Police acting spokesman in the region, Angelo Cacoia Daniel, of the weapons in respect nine were voluntarily handed over by the population and the others through micro operation held in the region.
Police have been working with chieftains and community officials in sensitizing the people to surrender any weapons in their possession.
The weapons in possession of the population pose a danger as their use can result in accidents.
