- There was total euphoria last Friday as the population of Bangem and its environs turned out en mass to witness an unprecedented occasion.

The dual ceremony which took place at the newly constructed Women's Empowerment Centre saw the award by the Support Project to Reform Technical Education and Vocational Training (PARETFOP), of equipment worth CFA 10 million to forty-two laureates and the graduation of the 2007 and 2008 batches of students of the centre.

On hand to preside at the occasion was the second assistant Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Mouanenguba, Arrey Achere Arrey, who called on the deserving students and graduates to put their equipment and talent at the service of the people. He thanked the Ministries of Secondary Education and Women Empowerment and Family under which the Support Project to Reform Technical Education and Vocational Training is being executed for thinking of the people of Kupe Mouanenguba.

The coordinator of the Support Project to Reform Technical Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Bayiha Jean, who co-presided the occasion said if PARETFOP is able to be in Bangem, it is thanks to a grant protocol signed in April 2004 between African Development Fund and the government, who earmark important component to the support for girls and women. He added that, the five-year Support Project to Reform Technical Education and Vocational Training, which has been to ten towns in five provinces, is a resolved of the Cameroon Government to promote self-employment. This working material is not for sale; it is intended to fetch daily bread for the laureates and their families.

He announced that in the days ahead, PARETFOP whose global objective is, developing human resources by improving on the qualifications and competitiveness of workers, will grant scholarships and prizes of excellence to deserving girls and women in ENSET Douala and provide eight Women's Empowerment and the Family Centres with instructional materials. Madam Agbor Tabi represented the Minister of Secondary Education, Mayor of Bangem, Ekuh Simon dished out words of advice to the beneficiaries, while Madam Dipita Lucia, director of the centre lauded the efforts of government, the ADB and called on people to enrol massively.
