7 April 2008

Luanda — Benin's general consul to Angola, Georgette Kiniffó Gomes dos Santos, Monday here said that his country's head of State's trip to Angola will enable the opening of new page of relationship between the two peoples and governments.

Speaking to ANGOP at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, the West African nation's diplomat noted that the visit to Angola, for the first time, of Benin president, Boni Yayi, serves to boost the friendship, cooperation and solidarity ties.

According to the diplomat, there are over 100 Beninese citizens working in Angola in the sectors of construction, health and trade.

Boni Yayi, at the head of his country's delegation, which will hold talks with government officials, started Monday a two-day official visit to Angola, at the invitation of his local counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santos.

Both delegations are due to sign an accord for setting up Angola/Benin Joint Commission.
