Eritrea: Development Activities Being Stepped Up in Shewate-Keren Administrative Area

Keren

The inhabitants of 4 villages in the Shewate-Keren administrative area are carrying out effective development activities focusing on soil and water conservation, according to Mr. Samuel Niguse, Administrator of the area.

So far, 12,000 cubic meters of embankments have been constructed and a number of terracing put in place, in addition to the renovation of the road running from Digi to Hager. More than 1,200 people took part in the undertaking.

The branch head of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Keren sub-zone, Mr. Haile Gebrezgiabher, pointed out that the campaign is in line with the ongoing endeavors to achieve food security and stressed its significance in promoting sound ecology.
