Angola: U.S. Ambassador Starts Visit to Kwanza-Sul Province

Luanda — U.S. ambassador to Angola, Dan Mozena, is starting a three-day visit to central Kwanza-sul province on Tuesday, where he will view landmine fields, as part of the celebrations of the International Day for Mine Awareness, April 04, Angop has learnt.

A presss note delivered to Angop states that ambassador Mozena will also have a courtesy meeting with the provincial government, the electoral commission and the electoral network staffs.

The diplomat will also visit projects being funded by his country and tour Gabela and Kibala districts.

In Gabela, he is to learn about the functioning of the Manuela Producers Association, in which the U.S., Chevron and the National Institute for Coffee are assisting 4,000 former coffee growers that are reviving abandoned farms.

In Kibala, the ambassador will view projects sponsored by the U.S. Government and the oil Company, Esso, in the fight against malaria. The US is the major singular donor for landmine clearance in Angola and has since 1995 granted Usd 56 million.
