Nigeria: Tribunal Chairman Warns Against Bribery

Akure — Against the backdrop of the shocking N2.3billion bribery scandal rocking some election petitions tribunals in the country, chairman of the second Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, Justice Joseph Ikyegh, yesterday warned that relevant laws would be invoked on those trying to pervert the course of justice if they failed to desist.

He gave this warning before hearing began in a petition involving a Labour Party senatorial candidate for Ondo Central, Mr. Ayo Akinyelure, and Senator Gbenga Ogunniya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Though Ikyegh refused to mention the people that attempted to engage in the disgraceful act, and the amount brought into his hotel room, he disclosed that the incident happened on Sunday.
