Nigeria: Budget - Parties Condemn Muscle-Flexing

Abuja — Ahead of today's meeting between President Umaru MusaYar'Adua and the Principal Officers of the Nationa lAssembly, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties(CNPP) has condemned in strong terms, the muscle flexing going on between the Presidency and the National Assembly over the 2008 Appropriation Bill.

According to the coalition of opposition political parties,the muscle flexing is an ill-wind that further compounds an economy in recession. "It is our considered viewthat the issue in serious contention is the age old conflict between the free market ideologues and the welfarists.
