Township Rollers are fuming at the way their former player, Sekhana Nandos Koko's case has been handled. Rollers claim to have lost a lot of money in securing the services of Koko from Gabane Santos two seasons ago.

The speedy winger was hit by an injury at training upon arrival and spent most of the time on the sidelines. This season, he made a long awaited comeback and scored six goals in the first round as a midfielder. That was rated as the best performance from him and he was the clubs top goal-scorer.

As Rollers were busy celebrating his return to form, their rivals, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, crept in and convinced him to join them. The Chiefs offer, according to Koko, was just hard to resist.

Upon agreeing terms with Chiefs, he immediately wrote a resignation letter to Rollers and they demanded P25 000. This resulted in the case being referred to the status committee which has since ruled that the player is a free agent and could join a team of his choice.

According to the league secretary, Setete Phuthego, if the ruling says he is free and any team is interested they can sign him hence the reason the player's registration book should be transferred to Chiefs, who have shown an interest and agreed personal terms.

Rollers have since appealed the matter and they are still awaiting the response of the appeals committee. At press time, Rollers had not given Chiefs the book as instructed and by yesterday, Thursday, the seven days given to the club to release the book would have elapsed.

Setete told Voice Sport that an appeal doesn't mean the ruling of the status committee has been over-turned.

"If by Thursday Rollers haven't returned the book, we will use our powers to issue a new registration book whilst we await the status committee," Setete explained.

Rollers boss, Somerset Gobuiwang, told Voice Sport that they don't see a reason why they should release the said player's registration book because they have appealed the decision and it is awkward for the football leaders at BFA to instruct them to do such.

When contacted for comment Koko said he couldn't wait to make his debut at his new club.

"I am currently training at Chiefs and that's the team I have a contract with and I am looking forward to plying this weekend, hopefully. I am told the book is just left with a legitimate stamp but as a free agent I know I can train at a place of my choice that is why I am seriously training at Chiefs." Koko said
