Ali Nuumbembe will challenge South Africa's Welcome Ntshingila for the WBA Pan African welterweight title, while Paulus 'The Hitman' Moses will fight an as yet unknown opponent in Japan next month.
This was announced in Windhoek by boxing promoter Nestor Tobias, who added that Jason 'Taks' Naule would fight South Africa's Kaizer Mabuza in a rematch for the Pan African Junior Welterweight title, possibly in Windhoek in August.
"Ali will fight Welcome Ntshingila of South Africa for the WBA Pan African welterweight title at the Windhoek Country Club on May 19.
Ali is the number one challenger for the title and it will be a mandatory bout.
I am still talking to sponsors to raise funds for the fight but I'm confident that we will raise enough funds," Tobias said.
Tobias said that Paulus 'The Hitman' Moses will fight an, as yet, unknown opponent in Japan in May, after striking a deal with legendary US promoter Don King.
King manages the affairs of WBA lightweight champion Jose Alfaro and although Moses, as the number one challenger, could insist on a mandatory fight against Alfaro, Tobias said they had agreed to postpone the fight in order to buy more time to try and stage a world title fight in Namibia.
"Alfaro is contracted to Don King, who is the biggest promoter in this game.
He is a good man, and is not like people try and make him out to be.
He is a good businessman and we have to listen to what he says.
He has asked us to allow Alfaro to defend his title in Japan in May, and in return, they will offer the Hitman a "step-aside" fee, while the Hitman will also fight an opponent of our choice on the undercard.
I think this is a good deal because it will give us more time to prepare for a possible world title fight in Namibia while it will also keep the Hitman active.
As part of the deal, Alfaro will then have to face the Hitman within 90 days after this fight," he said.
"If we can connect the Hitman with Don King, it will help us to develop the careers of other Namibian boxers in future," Tobias added.
NAULE WANTS TO MAKE AMENDS Tobias said that they were very disappointed about Jason 'Taks' Naule's defeat to Kaizer Mabuza last month and had insisted on a rematch with the South African.
"Everyone who saw that fight could see that Taks did not fight like we know him and he was just there to survive.
He had personal problems and had an off night and he is very disappointed that he let down his sponsors and the public.
He wants to make it up to his supporters by bringing the title back to Namibia and we have demanded a rematch," Tobias said.
Tobias said that in terms of the contract with Mabuza, Naule had the first option to fight him again, and said the fight would hopefully take place in Windhoek in August.
Tobias dismissed claims and reports that his poor showing was due to his water being tampered with during the fight.
"There was a report that someone put something in his water to weaken him during the fight.
This is not true, I am the only one who gives him water and I would not allow that.
We have a strong camp of boxers now and we love each other and are like a family.
There is no way that anyone in my camp will do anything like that," he said.
