Angola: Cooperation With Benin Starts in Health Sector

Angolan Foreign minister, João Miranda, Monday in Luanda said cooperation with Benin will start with actions in the area of health and afterwards in the domain of transports, fishing, culture and arts, Angop has learnt.
João Miranda announced this at the end of the signing of the general accord of economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Angola and Benin, as part of the official visit that west Africa country's president, Boni Yayi, is paying.
According to him, so far it has been decided that the two countries should cooperate in the domain of health. Benin has qualified personnel and medical capacity and Angola wants to benefit from this experience.
He added that Benin is a pioneer in the treatment of falciform cells, adding that "there is a great interest that Benin's physicians come to work with us".
Minister Joao Miranda said that a meeting of the Angola/Benin joint commission will be held until the end of this year to tackle bilateral interest issues.
An accord for the setting up of the joint commission was signed on Monday in the presence of the presidents of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, and of Benin Boni Yayi. A cooperation protocol was also signed between both Foreign ministers for consultation on matters of common interest.

On the fringes of the signings, both heads of State met privately to analyse matters of the international affairs, with highlight to the ongoing situation in the African continent.
