Luanda — At least Usd 150 million will be spent in Angola for the fight against malaria, on Monday said the deputy national coordinator of the programme of fight against the illness, Nilton Saraiva.
Speaking to Angop, he said the amount will be used in five years, representing 30 million per year, jointly funded by the Angolan Government, World Health Organisation, the World Bank, Unicef, the Japanese Cooperation and others.
The project will be implemented in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Nilton Saraiva defended the implementation of the "roll malaria back" programme with a greater speed, adding that with the engagement of the Government the death rate has decreased.
"In 2003, it was recorded about 30,000 deaths in Angola and in 2006 the rate decreased to 5,000, which shows the efficiency of the programme," he explained.
