Cameroon: West - Bafoussam To Have a Referal Hospital

Public Health Minister Andre Mama Fouda says plans are now underway to transform the Bafoussam Provincial hospital in to a Referal Hospital the third in the country after Yaounde and Douala . Minister Andre Mama Fouda said this step is to meet the increasing health need of the population of the region.
The Minister made the declaration in Bafoussam recently during an official visit to the Bafoussam Provincial hospital. Addressing management and health personnel of the Bafoussam hospital, the health boss thanked sincerely the new management team, headed by Dr Bernard Cheumaga for the renovation work in the hospital that has tremendously increased health facilities in the hospital. The Minister took time off to visit all the departments in the hospital including, the surgical, dental and paediatric departments, out patients and X-Ray departments, Patients wards, where he discovered that most of the equipments were obsolete. The Minister promised to do something in the nearest future to improve the situation. He confirmed reports that an X-Ray machine had been acquired for the hospital and will be installed in the weeks ahead. The Minister thanked the support staff of the hospital for the efforts they have put in to support progress in the hospital, and gave them assurance that their integration into the public service will soon be signed.
Mr Andre Mama Fouda, underlined the importance government attaches to the health sector drugs for the treatment of certain diseases, like tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS are now available at subsidize prices. He enjoined the staff of the Bafoussam Provincial Hospital to redouble their endeavours and make sure the population receives fair treatment from them.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Bafoussam Provincial Hospital, Dr Cheumaga Bernard, handed a voluminous copy of a memorandum to Minister Andre Mama Fouda, containing a catalogue of problems facing the hospital.
