Liberia: Disabled Table Tennis Launched

8 April 2008

Monrovia — The Liberia National Table Tennis Association (LNTTA) has decided to involve the disabled in the game.

The President of the Table Tennis Association, Mr. Lord Obedaja Brownell said that to kick the ball rolling, his association would stage exhibition matches on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the table tennis hall at the Sports Commission on Broad Street.

According to Mr. Brownell, being that the country does not have disabled athletes for now, so it would be the visiting Nigerian amputee football team that would partake in today's exhibition against able players of Liberia.

However, Mr. Brownell stated that the Liberia National Paralympic Committee (LNPC), headed by Mr. Jefferson Zoegbeh, has been contacted to have disabled athletes participate in table tennis.

"We have our hall available to them and I will be liaising with various amputee groups for programs to train and improve them because there is a program for the disabled internationally," added the Table Tennis President, Mr. Brownell.
