Cellcom GSM mobile network Monday launched the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) with Edge.

Edge is a digital mobile phone technology that allows increase data transmission rates and improved data transmission reliability.

It is also generally classified as 2.75G and provides up to three times the data capacity of GPRS.

Speaking during a press conference at the Capitol Bye-pass office of Cellcom, Public Relations Officer T. Max Jlateh said the GPRS Edge is the fastest in the world.

According to him, GPRS Edge 2.75G is a technology between the second (2G) and the third (3G) generations of the mobile telephony and is as fast as SMS.

"Unlike other competitors, Cellcom SIM cards are already GPRS- Edge activated and you can access the internet wherever there is a Cellcom signal," Mr. Jlateh said.
