Luanda — The start of the second phase of the Rural Development Programme (PDR) and Combat of Poverty will be discussed Friday at a conference with the deputy minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Filomena Delgado.
According to a press note from the Agriculture Ministry that reached Angop Tuesday, the first phase of PDR was implemented in 2007, in 10 provinces of the country, namely Huambo, Kwanza Sul, Benguela, Bié, Luanda, Uige, Moxico, Malanje, Zaire and Huila.
The programme, reads the note, supports the improvement of the rural and periphery population living standards, trough the rehabilitation of economic infrastructures, houses, schools, health posts, social and cultural centres.
PDR has a strategy that will be implemented in three stages. The first will be linked to the extensive aid project (intervention within families and business-related agriculture) to guarantee the improvement of productivity.
The second aims to settle the populations in their areas of origin, with the purpose of reintegrating them in the commercial sectors of the rural zones, whereas the third is intended to integrated development, towards the promotion of living standards of the inhabitants.
The two-year Rural Development Programme and the Combat of Poverty has an initial budget of Usd 150 million.
